Message from Your KY9/12 Team

We came together over a year ago to see that we were not alone. We’ve been shouting at Washington that we don’t like where our country is headed. Now we are quickly approaching OUR TIME! On November 2nd we will be able to make our voices heard. This election we can change the direction this nation is going and begin to right this ship. This will be the next Great Step in out battle to “Restore”. But this is only our Next Step. There is much more work to do. While KY9/12 has made amazing strides during the past year and half, our vision (To Restore Liberty, Restore the Republic, and Restore Our Nation) is not done. The fight is not over. Until the 9 Principles and the 12 Values we stand for are embraced and practiced and once again the foundation for America, our work will not be done. I urge you to get to the polls November 2nd. It is a crime we may only have 30% - 40% of people voting. If this is all we can pull off the couch and be bothered to vote, we deserve what we get. We must vote and work on others to get out and vote also. Talk to your friends, relatives, and neighbors now – not about R’s & D’s, but about the candidates that will make a difference! Then with critical mass and the power of the vote we can continue to march forward to Restore Liberty, the Republic, and Our Nation…

This is only our next step. In the coming months we will be releasing information regarding how you and the local group you attend can move forward to meet our goal. I look forward to what we will accomplish and knowing we are not alone.

Danville 9/12 Project hosts first of its kind event

Danville 9/12 Project hosted the first formal meeting between Danville mayoral candidates Jamey Gay and Bernie Hunstad. It was a huge success and great event that received some good coverage in the Danville newspaper. Below is the link to the full article along with some exerts. Congratulations to Anne Nagy and everyone in the Danville 9/12 Project for a job well done.

Anne Nagy, the Boyle 9/12 group’s organizers, said getting both candidates in the non-partisan race was a big deal for the one-year anniversary of this chapter’s formation.

Nagy said it is unfortunate that candidates and voters have assumed the group is only friendly to right-leaning candidates. She said most people also incorrectly believe the group is affiliated with the Tea Party.

“It is just wonderful that we have gotten both of these men to agree to be here,” Nagy said. “We have wanted to have a forum for both sides. I hope this is just the beginning of people being more comfortable sharing their views here with us.”
The candidates met in a town hall-style setting in front of a crowd of about 150 people at Title Town Bingo, an event that was organized by members of the Boyle County 9/12 Project. Moderated by Bob Martin, emeritus professor of economics at Centre College, the meeting included a couple of questions chosen ahead of time, followed by those submitted by audience members.

Some of the major topics continued to be the decision to build the new city hall and police station and require mandatory or universal curbside recycling.

Mary Jo Enderle, who has attended 9/12 meetings before, said Monday’s forum didn’t change her vote but did give her a lot of information about the candidates she didn’t already have.

GOTV

Just 2 weeks away for the great wave to flow over this nation and we may take a good step foreword to restoring our republic. Although Nov 2nd is not the end, I will never diminish the overreaching effects that this election will have and the overwhelming importance that we fight even harder these last 14 days and do everything possible to GOTV. We must not take anything for granted and we must do what we can in the time that remains. Here are 10 tips to help GOTV that you can do now and invite your friends to do as well.

- Post pictures from the campaign trail or of your candidate campaigning. Post pictures of a rally you went to, a yard sign, or other supporters doing campaign activities. Posting pictures of your offline activities online is a great way to gently remind your people that there is a real-life campaign going on and you need their help offline and GOTV.

- Attend a local forum or rally. A large crowd is important at these final events for a few reasons. It provides energy to the candidate of growing support and helps motivate them, it builds momentum with the base to help get out and vote, and demonstrates to those watching from the outside that there is something they need to pay attention to.

- Do one more thing if you haven’t already for a local candidate. Phone bank, canvass, and volunteer. Sign up at your local victory office or call your local candidate and find 1 way to help get involved between now and the election.

- Knock on your neighbor’s door. Don’t call or e-mail me, I will be voting and you are preaching to the choir. Now when is the last time you spoke to your neighbor or that person that may need a little encouragement to get out and vote? Build communities and build energy and build votes.

- Place a yard sign. Yard signs are a fantastic way not only to help with name recognition but builds energy and excitement for others to get involved and be part of something big going on. It is important even more at the end to create the momentum for the final days and give the impression to your neighbors that he/she is the winning team.

- Send out e-mail to: co-worker, friend, family member, acquaintance. This is the simplest thing you can do that is far from being intrusive. I am not asking you to stomp for the candidate or push your beliefs down their throat but simply provide a reminder that Nov 2 is important and the personal side of why for you.

- Comment on a blog, facebook, news article, touting the candidate of your choice or exposing the other candidate of your unliking. The taverns and meeting houses of the past have been replaced by wiki, facebook, and blogging. People are talking about your candidate and you need to step up and provide your opinion to these social sites and networks. This is key to energize and help control the message in these final days.

- Encourage others. Call your candidate and give them that encouragement to get across the finish, take some cookies to the local victory office for the work they are doing, or reach out to others and tell them to talk to their friends and neighbors and GOTV. There are others in the trenches, take a moment and give them a push.

- Text friends and family on Election Day. You would be surprised what a last minute reminder may be just enough to get someone off the couch or to stop by their polling place on the way home from work.

- Of course VOTE. This year bring a friend or fellow patriot with you. Find a way to make Nov 2 an event and invite others to go and vote together. Car pool, heck plan a tailgate party (over the necessary distance away from the polling place).

November 2nd

Less than 30 days away from possibly the most important turning point in our generation. We had an inspirational experience in Washington DC, we just finished an amazing educational weekend, and many of us have spent countless hours this past year laying foundations promoting principles and waking up our neighbors. While we are a non-partisan and many times even non-political group focused on education we cannot minimize the relevance and impact this election will have on November 2nd. We know you are smart enough to make informed decisions so we will never endorse candidates nor are we promoting forums or candidate events. We are continuing to offer local meetups this month and localized events that meet the objectives of this group. But we are about personal responsibility as well and you should never limit yourselves based on what we are doing.

I urge everyone to get up, get out, and make a difference in your community THIS MONTH. Please consider working with your local or state candidate and do more than support but offer your time and money to get them elected. For a candidate to work for us we need to first work for them to get them into office. This means walking, calling, and the retail politics that made this nation. This year it is no longer about money but momentum and support. One person can be the difference again and you can carry that person over the finish line and into office. This means the local mayor, your state representative, and all the way to the Senate and Congressional races. Please I beg you get out and vote November 2, bring 10 friends with you, volunteer to work and help out at your local victory office, and please find the candidates that are principled that are in line with what you believe and SUPPORT them, especially at the local levels where you have the largest impact and they need the most help.
