Project Appleseed is a nationwide program that teaches rifle marksmanship skills that have been passed down from generation to generation and reconnects Americans with the people and events of colonial America. Participants are taught skills that allow a Rifleman to be accurate out to 500 yards using a standard rifle with iron sights and surplus ammunition. This ability is traditionally known as mastering the “Rifleman's Quarter Mile” and is an American tradition that has been part of this nation from its very first days. So join us and hear some little-known Revolutionary War history, reaffirm your heritage, and make America a better place.

Heritage / Marksmanship
• The Debt We Owe to Our Forefathers / • Learn fundamentals and make quick progress.
• The Duty We Owe to Our Posterity / • Experienced Shooters - learn new techniques
• The Story of Our Nation’s Birth / • Experts – polish skills, become an RWVA Instructor in Training.
• The Lessons of April 19, 1775 / • Master the Rifleman's Quarter Mile

Restore Community

What happened to the days we use to be comfortable knocking on our neighbor’s door and asking for a cup of sugar. Let’s return to the people we were on 9/12/2001 when we were united as Americans. Please consider joining the movement to get to know those that live around you and restore values, restore our nation, and restore our community

We are asking YOU to reach out to your neighbors and those that live around you and host a back yard get together or block party of your own. It is easy to do and plays an essential part of bringing us back to our values and principles and restoration of the people and place we once were.

The date for the nationwide simultaneous neighborhood block parties are Saturday June 25th. In the essences of Personal Responsibility and spirit of 9/12 Project we need everyone to organize in your own areas and be part of this experience.

What you need to do:
- Set a location for your get together (home, local neighborhood park, street)
- Tell us where you will meet (e-mail us, set up event on any social media site)
- Get the word out to your neighbors (go door to door with flyers, post signs)

It is that simple step, and this will begin to fundamentally change the place where we live.

9/12 Block Parties

Plan a Block or Neighborhood Party! – Keep it SIMPLE, SIMPLE, SIMPLE! The demographics of the “block” and the level of participation determine the size and scope. The PURPOSE is building relationships NOT winning an entrainment award or converting everyone to your way of thinking. .

Although putting a Block Party together doesn't need to be difficult, it will definitely be more successful with a little planning.

Pick a location. If only a few families are interested, you can hold the party in yours or someone’s backyard, but if a majority of the neighborhood wants to attend, you may be able to officially close the street and have a bonafide block party in the public space. Contact your local police department for requirements on road closures, as the laws vary widely from city to city. Most city ordinances require a signed petition from a majority of the neighbors. Another option is to use a nearby park facility.

Limiting your event to a 2 to 4 hours time span insures that you will have a more concentrated group of attendees.

Plan a menu. You can not go wrong with the standard burgers and hot dogs and they are always a big hit. But you may also consider serving up a more unique fare, such as barbecued ribs, pulled pork, or kabobs.
- You can easily ask everyone to bring a side dish, or you can request monetary donations to be used for a food budget. This is not out of the ordinary and you will most likely find your neighbors wanting to chip in or help by bringing or buying food.
- You may also solicit local businesses to contribute food, drinks and supplies.
- Other creative options include holding a chili or barbeque cook-off, and having kids award prizes to their favorites.
- Solicit volunteers to bring grills. Ask the people who volunteer their grills to help cook as well.
- Don't forget items like drinks and condiments.
- Make arrangements to purchase plates, napkins, cups and plastic ware. This can be assigned to neighbors or you can have each family be in charge of their own dinnerware.

Send invitations to everyone on the block.
- Get the kids involved and have them stuff the invites in everyone's mailbox or newspaper boxes
- You can make it more personal and go door-to door, or send a more personal invitation in the mail.
- Put a flyer up at through-ways much like you were advertising for a garage sale.
- Keep the invitation simple, and remember to include contact names and phone numbers for R.S.V.P.'s and for signing up to bring food or coordinate activities. Let people know if they need to bring their own cooler of beverages, or their own chairs.

Organize a few activities.
- Plan family-friendly activities. Depending on the size or demographics of your block party, you might consider kid events such as hanging candy-filled piƱatas for the children to swing at, or set up tables for face-painting, coloring contests, relay races, chalk drawing on the sidewalks, finger painting, kite flying, etc.
- Plan fun events for the adults, too. Some popular summer party favorites include cornhole, horseshoes, ring toss, volleyball, badminton, or lawn darts.
- Don’t over-plan. Use games to get people involved in the early stages of the Block Party and during down times to encourage people to stay. Give folks the opportunity to relax and talk as well.

Don’t forget the music. Depending on the size of your block party, musical entertainment could be as simple as setting out a stereo in someone’s driveway or I-Pod in a docking station.

Don’t be afraid to enlist help. If you live on a smaller street, you can go door-to-door and ask neighbors what food or items they can bring. For larger areas, consider distributing fliers with lists of needed items, such as chairs, tables, utensils, or sports equipment. If you already have everything you need, give them the option of signing up for services, such as helping with setup or cleaning up after the party.

Remember, it doesn’t take a hundred people or even fifty to have a successful event. If your neighbors meet a few new families and get to know each other a little better, you’re already beginning to enhance and Restore Your Community.

Thank you

One of the most humble experiences I have ever had the opportunity to be involved in is being a part of this wonderful group. You have literally changed my perspectives, my course, and my life. I am honored to count myself among you and call myself a 9/12er; Thank You!!

It has been an amazing two years since we first came together to prove to each other that we were not alone. We have gone on a made an impact in our own lives and those around us and total changed the landscape of political thinking. We have garnished international attention, inspired national initiatives, and became one of the most recognized 9/12 groups in the nation. From 140 people at the first viewing party we now have over two thousand- five hundred members state wide and many new close bonds and new found friends.

It has been an incredible journey. We spent evening on March 12th and gathered back together to celebrate and had a great time. Thanks to the large crowd that came out and was part of that. In addition thank you, thank you for the many well wishes, donations, and in your own ways being a part of this.

Here is a VERY SPECIAL message to all of you and a short pictorial view of some of the highlights of the past 2 years. Thank you again and Happy Anniversary and here is to many many more….

March highlights: over 200 new members this month alone; we raised over $2,500 dollars in donations; launched 2 new local meetups around the state…

And we are just getting started: Stay tuned, dial in, and hold on for the ride.

So what is a book club?
A group of 4 – 12 people meeting (once a week, bi-weekly, or at minimum monthly), all reading and discussing the same subject matter with the intent to educate themselves. Some of these groups begin in living rooms and around kitchen tables but can just as easily take place at a local Library, coffee shop, restaurant, or church. They generally last between an hour to 90 minutes and provide the opportunity to get together and systematically go through a book as a group. Through the process it holds the participants accountable to read ahead, provides great discussions and learning opportunities, and it educates and enlightens everyone involved.

How to Get Involved or start your own?
Pick a day and time that works for you. Let us know and we will post on meetup, website, facebook, and help get the word out. Don’t just rely on us to let people know; call your friends, neighbors, church members, co-workers and invite them to invite friends as well. Type up a blurb for your area library bulletin board or convenient store bulletin board. Don’t worry what others may think, you will be surprised by the welcomed response you will most likely receive from some of the most unsuspecting people. Finally set the ground rules prior to the first meeting or during the first meeting. These are simple things such as what book you will begin with, how many pages you will try to discuss each meeting, who will facilitate, and when and where you will continue to meet.

Beginning, or participating in a book club; you will make a difference to your family, your neighborhood, to say nothing about the difference you will make to your country.

But only if you set into play this idea and take that first step of personal responsibility. If it is going to happen in your community it is up to you. Start doing as our Founding Fathers did- discuss, verbalize, share ideas about principles and values.

I will close with a quote from Thomas Jefferson:
“If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.” - FYI I recently learned that – at BOOK CLUB.

Suggestions for a successful book club
1) Have a moderator- someone who helps the group stay on topic- folks might want to discuss current politics instead of the book at hand. This is not a difficult responsibility and may be shared between people on a rotation basis, but there should be a single go to person that helps facilitate and organize each meeting.

2) Keep focused and try to use the majority of the meeting for discussions about the book. You may allow time afterwards for other types of conversation, but stay focused on the material first. (some groups have a 15min free for all at the end of each meeting to allow participants to vent about current issues and not to cloud the meeting with off topic discussions)

3) No need for coffee or snacks, unless you want to. But food does make a more comfortable environment for some groups and I never say no to food. If you have it at your home, keep pets and young children in another room, however, if the child can play quietly to the side or is old enough to grasp some of the concepts, by all means have them present.

4) Be specific with how many pages you will discuss the following week. We rarely do more than 10 pages. We are all very busy people and we really want too learn what we’re reading, so we take our time discussing the text from all angles.

5) Try to have it on the same day and time every week or on a specific day of the month to allow people to plan their schedules around it. An hour is ambitious but we have seen it done. 90 minutes seems to be a good length and ample time for discussion.

6) Decide on a book to begin with. A great starting place is “The 5000 Year Leap.” We have a great discussion sheets or a book club companion piece for this book and it lends itself perfectly for book club study. It is not political, rather it focuses on PRINCIPLES OF GOVERNMENT – the 28 principles our Founding Fathers used to create our great country.

7) Keep meeting and inviting people - Even if your book club is an ideal size, from time to time you'll have the chance to invite new people as other members move away or drop out. Don't be discouraged if you lose members. People's schedules and commitments change. Hopefully you'll always have a core group, and together you can reload.

Great American Budget Bash

Special thanks to Stephani Scruggs and the National 9/12 Project.

No one in DC seems capable of stopping the hemorrhaging known as Federal Spending. Every year Republicans and Democrats spend billions of dollars they don't have, driving America deeper and deeper into debt. This year, the Congressional Budget Office says the Feds will overspend by $1.5 Trillion and be over $8 billion dollars in debt by the end of the year. This equates to over $44,000 of debt for every man, woman and child.
We the People say ENOUGH!
If the boys and girls of the beltway can't remember how to balance a checkbook, it's time for regular Americans to show them how it's done.

The 912 Project has joined with As A Mom, Declaration Alliance and Unite in Action for The Great American Budget Bash.

We are asking every man, woman and child to help SLASH THE BUDGET!
We have posted the proposed 2012/2013 Federal Budget. Now we ask you to select a section of the budget and find something to cut! It's easy - just use the link to access the 2012 Federal Budget and start slashing!

Give and Support Our Mission

Thanks to everyone for taking part in our Second Year Anniversary and the great items for our silent auction. The one thing that never seizes to amaze me is the overwhelming generosity of 9/12ers and the people involved with this group.

With this being a true grassroots group for the first 2 years we have never had the real means of collecting donations nor have we wanted to, but at the same time we have had many costs. Over the past month I have been touched by the vast number of people that do want to give and support our mission towards providing access to much needed web tools, educational and training, event assistance as well as networking and strategy opportunities

Thank you, I ensure you that we will spend every penny wisely, efficiently, and only in harmony with the principles and values we all embrace.

But with our rapid overwhelming growth, new exciting initiatives, and need to remain even more vigilant; we have immediate and lofty goals we still need to meet. Please if you feel lead and believe in our mission and vision give an on-line donation today.

We recommend a donation of $17.76 / $40.40 / $90.12

Virtual meetup - American History in the Classroom

TextbookCheck.com is offering this exclusive opportunity to Kentucky 9/12 Project! We've set April12th for this first webinar. It will begin at 8pm EDT and should last between 60 and 90 minutes (with some of that time open for questions).

You will need to register ahead of time. It takes less than a minute. You will receive a confirmation email containing a link that you will need by 8pm on the 12th to join the webinar! This is only available through our group and we are honored to be the first in the country to take part in this on-line event presented by William Jackson.

STATE OF THE TEXTBOOK: American History in the Classroom

In this TextbookCheck.com webinar, William Jackson examines some of the major challenges facing students, parents, and teachers today when it comes to American history in the classroom, particularly at the high school and university levels. After identifying some of the key driving forces behind these disturbing trends, Jackson proposes several potential solutions.

About the presenter: William Jackson is a Maxwell Fellow at Syracuse University (Department of History), a board member of the Constitutional Champions Foundation (a 9/12 Project organization), and chief editor of TextbookCheck.com. His work has been published in many newspapers, magazines, high-level government reports, and academic journals, including his most recent article, "Robbers and Incendiaries," published in the Libertarian Papers (Ludwig von Mises Institute).

About Textbookcheck.com: They exists to make sure students, parents, and teachers can be exposed to some of the omitted parts of our history and heritage--or at least to the points of view that hold that they have, indeed, been omitted. Simultaneously, TextbookCheck acts as a forum for professors of history, economics, law, and the humanities to respond to specific points made in specific textbooks, giving students of history a broader picture of the issues, debates, and competing theories permeating our past. Students finally have a commentary, ever-growing and written by scholars, to go along with the curriculum-mandated textbook of the classroom.

Webinar note: You may want to remind them that speakers or headphones are therefore required. We also recommend listeners use a reliable wireless connection to ensure the best quality presentation. Everybody listening will be able to comment or ask questions during and after the presentation via a chat box.
