This will be a Town Hall and Rally to let your voice heard, bring awareness to the problems we have right here at home, and push for a Kentucky Debt Ceiling legislation.

We may not stop Washington and the fiscal world may come to an end on Wednesday but we can make a difference here in our state!! Now is the time to draw attention to the need to tie Kentucky politicians’ hands to keep them from plunging us even further into debt. On the day the world ends and we plummet the nation into default lets take the opportunity to let Kentucky state representatives know we want to set a limit on how much Kentucky can borrow as well.

The debt accumulated in Kentucky over the past decade by Frankfort politicians in both political parties has been staggering - more than forty billion dollars

The nearly $400 million our state borrowed THIS YEAR was at a net loss of $30 million for the restructuring of bonds for the sole purpose of making last year's state budget appear balanced.

You are hearing lots of talk about the federal debt ceiling - but what about Kentucky’s debt ceiling?? The truth is that debate has never happened. Let start the debate and have our voice heard here in Kentucky. Let’s stop the budget smoke and mirrors and tricks and start to be fiscally responsibly here at home.

Back to School Brigade

As many of you know KY9/12 Project takes every opportunity to help out our friends at Operation Homefront. This is a fantastic organization with a very active Kentucky / Tennessee chapter. By supporting them you are directly supporting our servicemen and their families they leave behind and to wounded warriors when they return home.

Every year Operation Homefront chapters across the country distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to children of military service members whose families cannot afford the school supplies. Fort Campbell is a distribution site for all of Kentucky and Tennessee. This year’s their (and our) goal is to fill 500 backpacks. This is an immediate need and we must accomplish this BEFORE JULY 29th. So please consider helping this week.

What: Patriot Days, now in its third year, is becoming western Kentucky’s premier living history festival that focuses on our Frontier and Colonial Heritage. Patriot Days seeks to celebrate the ideas behind the American founding in the context of the early American frontier, while maintaining awareness of our local art, agricultural, and cultural uniqueness.

Richmond, KY, July 4, 2011: The Madison County 9/12 Project is pleased to announce a Town Hall meeting featuring State Senator Jared Carpenter of the Kentucky 34th Senate District and Congressional Candidate Andy Barr of the 6th U.S. Congressional District. Senator Carpenter represents the people of Madison, Rockcastle and Lincoln counties, while the Kentucky U.S. 6th District include Franklin, Woodford, Scott, Bourbon, Clark, Montgomery, Estill, Powell, Madison, Garrard, Lincoln, Boyle, Mercer, Anderson, Jessamine, and Fayette counties. Meeting is set for July 14, 2011 at 6:30 pm at the First Southern National Bank building, 894 Richmond Plaza, (corner of Berea Road (US 25) and the Eastern Bypass (KY 876)), Richmond, KY 40475. The Senator is a former EKU graduate and basketball player and is currently a loan officer and farmer. The Senator’s presentation will concentrate on Kentucky state financial issues but all subjects are open for discussion. Mr. Barr will be addressing issues of national concern and will be available for questions following his presentation. The public and press are invited to attend.
